The Three Lions Recall Bukayo Saka But Bellingham, Phil Foden & Grealish Are Omitted

Bukayo Saka in action

Bukayo Saka has netted a dozen goals in 44 appearances for England.

England have recalled Bukayo Saka for next week's matches versus Wales and Latvia, yet there's no spot for Bellingham, Phil Foden or Grealish.

Gunners attacker Bukayo Saka missed the previous World Cup qualifying successes against Andorra and Serbia with a muscle problem.

Saka recently returned for Arsenal and scored in their 2-0 win over Olympiacos on Wednesday.

The England international comes in for Arsenal team-mate Noni Madueke, who is out of action until November with a knee problem.

The Three Lions face the Welsh in a friendly at Wembley on Thursday before a World Cup qualifier in Riga on October 14.

Should England triumph against Latvia, they will need a maximum of two points from their final two matches versus Serbia and Albania in the next month to qualify for next summer's tournament in North America.

Leverkusen's Quansah comes in for Newcastle's Livramento, who is out for up to eight weeks following sustaining a knee issue against the Gunners last weekend.

Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence, who received their maiden national team selections previously, keep their spots. Loftus-Cheek also remains in the squad, even with the return to fitness of Wharton.

Saka has featured in just a single match for the manager since he became England manager, due to fitness and hamstring injuries.

Bellingham missed the previous squad as he was rehabilitating after a shoulder operation and has managed just one start for Real Madrid after coming back to fitness.

The Manchester City player was left out from Tuchel's last England squad after a dip in performance and has been unable to force his way back, even with a impressive beginning to the season with Manchester City.

Grealish also misses out in spite of a resurgence with Everton. The 30-year-old has not played for England since October 2024.

Full England Squad

'Focus on omissions over inclusions'

Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad draws attention on those the head coach has left out instead of the included names.

Bellingham’s omission may raise some eyebrows but the coach believes there is no need to bring back the Madrid midfielder.

City’s Foden and on-loan Everton forward Jack Grealish have both performed well in the early stages of the season.

The players Tuchel utilised in England's qualifying victories versus Serbia and Andorra deserve the reward of continuity.

There will be disappointment that Arsenal's Noni Madueke is not involved due to injury.

Anderson has settled well at England senior level.

Tuchel is a admirer of the attacker, especially, and also Foden.

One unexpected move, it comes in the absence of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The star, of course, will be required in the future.
