Forest Are Not Planning to Dismiss Ange Postecoglou; Liverpool Keeper Out; Three Lions Team Updates

Ange Postecoglou Safe - At Present

As of the early hours today, the club had no plans to fire their manager but the volatile situation of the club and its proprietor Evangelos Marinakis means that things can change quickly.

Supporters expressed their opinions on the previous day, demanding the exit of the coach who took over from an local favorite and it is difficult to reverse the sentiment once that occurs.

Postecoglou is the owner's choice, the club chief having selected him long before Nuno Espirito Santo was sent packing. Everyone at Forest expected a time of adjustment but to be without a victory in six games and losing at their own ground to Sunderland and Midtjylland were not part of the thoughts when he arrived last month.

Postecoglou was intended to change the style but he has his tactical philosophy, which is very different to his predecessor, so there is an acceptance that adjustments require patience. Patience, however, is not a trait often observed at the club. The upcoming league fixtures are against tough opponents, so the challenge will intensify for the manager.

Liverpool's Keeper Out for The Reds

The Liverpool manager addressed the media:

“The goalkeeper is not part of the squad tomorrow and he will not go to Brazil for the international duty. The forward is going to train again this afternoon, let’s see where he is. The same can be said for the winger. It depends on how fast the recovery goes.

“I will be surprised if he [Alisson] will be there for the initial match after the national team pause. After that progress may be a bit quicker or a bit more gradual. It’s hard to predict. I’m not medically trained so I cannot tell you if it is the identical issue.”

Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to start instead of the first choice.

“I believe we’ve observed against Southampton how well he’s adjusted. We knew we were signing a high-quality shot-stopper. When he made his debut that’s a demonstration he’s adapted excellently to the team. It’s expected because he’s a quality player. Now he can do what we’ve had to do so many times in the previous seasons covering for the main keeper, like we’ve handled previously.”

Fan Reaction at Forest's Stadium

The scenes were nearly unprecedented on a disheartening night, many local fans singing: “Your job is at risk.” Then the supporters twisted the knife, singing the title of his former coach Nuno Espírito Santo, with a number directing comments at Evangelos Marinakis observing with his own giant private television in the executive area. This made for grim viewing.

Weekend Lookahead

Unbeaten in the league since their initial match, the Cherries early momentum has been halted by back-to-back ties: at their stadium to the Magpies and at Elland Road last week. The Cottagers travel to the stadium on tonight, presenting Andoni Iraola’s side a presentable chance of returning to victory and climbing the table. After a turbulent summer, Iraola has aimed for consistency in his team selection.

Behind 2-1 at Leeds, the Bournemouth manager made a triple change to reintroduce three usual starters – David Brooks, Alex Scott and Marcus Tavernier – to his XI and was rewarded with a late leveller. The team have also maintained defensive stability, conceding just once in several matches between the trips to strong opponents. Marcos Senesi, often playing in an otherwise brand-new back five, has been crucial to the squad's cohesion. The defender received accolades from Iraola for his defensive work and danger at attacking set-pieces – as evidenced by his headed assist for Eli Junior Kroupi’s equaliser at the venue.
